One Cosmetic
The new luxury cosmetic clinic within a heritage conservation area in Sydney’s Double Bay. A space that serves to elevate the brand and enhance the client experience, while meeting a myriad of functional and clinical requirements. Simplicity and sophistication, infused with a youthful energy is executed to high levels of quality, comfort, and functionality. Informed by the context of the locale and the predominantly female clientele, we sought a warm, comfortable, and highly detailed interior with an almost residential quality. Femininity represented in a tension of materials that balance hard and soft, classic and contemporary, and rounded forms.

The space displays a relentless pursuit of materials and details that elevate the clinical experience, and communicate a memorable experience that is the definition of the business itself. A high-end residential level of quality has been attained through the finishes, many of which were custom sourced and installed by master craftsman.
The terrazzo is a custom mixture developed to match a sample from a now-defunct European collaboration. Custom designed joinery - such as the floating shop-in-shop product display and storage - celebrates a combination of natural stone and resin as a chic blend of classic and youthful.
Lighting is a key in balancing practicality and emotion. Consulting rooms are placed on the perimeter to benefit from natural light, whilst the main procedure room, ‘landlocked’ in the layout, utilises an illuminated stretched ceiling that eliminates shadows.
Privacy is prioritised - airlock entry points interrupt sightlines into consulting spaces. Thresholds play an important role in layering privacy, as do mirror treatments to the facade glazing and sandblasted glass within steel-framed doors, that moderate the relationship between public and private.
A commitment to the development of bespoke elements - custom-made seamless resin hand basins, integrated bench top sharps bins, coat hooks that are artworks, a retail ‘shop in shop’ that sits lightly like a piece of furniture or a screen. No opportunity is missed to provide detail to respond to need.
